Listen Up, UCI Students! New Restaurants Are Coming To UTC
It’s time to upgrade your “Freshman 15” to “Freshman 50.”
Rejoice, Anteaters! More new restaurants are coming to the University Center, adjacent to the UC Irvine campus. Here’s what you can expect to grub on later this year.
Remember Kochee Kabob House?
It closed late last year and is being replaced by Mediterranean restaurant chain Luna Grill. You can expect Luna Grill to open in September of this year.
Luna Grill currently has two locations in Irvine, one on Alton and Culver, the other at the Irvine Spectrum. The chain also has plans to open a location at The Market Place in Irvine.
Spoleto is a fast casual pasta bar, that many people describe as the “Chipotle of pasta.” At the restaurant, diners choose a pasta, a sauce and up to six toppings for $8. Spoleto has over 350 locations around the world, but the UC Irvine location will be its first on the West Coast.
You can expect Spoleto to open late September, right next to Mendocino Farms.
Adya is opening at the University Center in June, offering a modern spin on Indian cuisine. The Indian restaurant will be replacing California Teriyaki Grill.
The concept currently has a location at the Anaheim Packing District. Diners can expect dishes like malai tikka, watermelon chaat and goat cheese naan.
